The front end now uses the same default the setting itself declares. * Fixed: After a chat form was submitted, WhatsApp could still open in the current tab (or be blocked by the browser's popup blocker) even with "Open in New Tab" on, because the link was opened only after the submission had been saved. The new tab is now opened as part of the click itself. * Removed: The "Loading Text" setting. It never took effect in any released version, and it cannot be shown now that the WhatsApp tab is opened as part of the click — that tab takes focus immediately, so a label change on the button behind it is never seen. The setting has been dropped rather than left in place doing nothing.  = 3.5.8 – 31 August 2026 = * Fixed: With Auto Open Popup enabled and the "Chat Button" chat experience selected, the floating button switched to its close icon even though it has no popup to close. The button is now left out of the open/close toggle.  = 3.5.7 – 26 August 2026 = * Fixed: Submitting the chat form on the front end opened a WhatsApp error page ("This page doesn't exist") instead of the conversation. The button's WhatsApp number was written into the page with extra quote characters, so the generated wa.me link was rejected. Testing the same number from the WordPress admin was unaffected, which is why the problem only showed up on the front end. * Fixed: WhatsApp numbers entered with a leading "+", spaces, dashes or brackets are now normalised to digits before the chat link is built, so formatted numbers no longer produce a broken link. * Fixed: The "URL for Desktop" setting fell back to WhatsApp Web when the option had never been saved, even though the setting's own default is "API". * Fixed: WhatsApp button block now strips formatting from the number and URL-encodes the prefilled message, so messages containing "#" or "&" are no longer cut short. Existing blocks are upgraded automatically and will not show the "unexpected or invalid content" warning. * Fixed: The WhatsApp icon on the WhatsApp Button block showed as an empty square in the block editor, and was missing entirely for logged-out visitors on the front end. Attribute values are now output inside quotes with `esc_attr()`, and the `number` / `group` inputs are additionally sanitized to allowed characters.
