How to Play

Objective: Outscore your opponent by getting the ball into their goal — the top goal scores for Blue, the bottom goal scores for Red.

Kicking Off: The ball waits at center court behind a Go button at the start of the match, and again after every goal. Tap Go to send it into play.

Moving Your Rods: Drag any of your rods left or right to line your players up with the ball — each rod slides freely along its own lane.

Passing: Once one of your players has the ball, tap the screen to the left or right of it to pass sideways to the teammate on that side of the same rod.

Shooting: Double-tap anywhere on the screen to fire a shot in your team’s direction — you don’t need to tap directly on a player or rod.

Scoring: Every goal updates the scoreboard live, and the ball automatically re-parks at center court for the next kickoff.

The Computer Opponent: The AI controls the entire opposing side, including its goalkeeper. Rather than locking perfectly onto the ball, AI rods sweep back and forth on their own timing — faster and wider when the ball is close, slower when it’s far — so shots have a genuine chance of getting through. The AI also builds up play row by row, hunting for open gaps in your defense and relaying the ball forward before taking a shot.

Online Mode: Tap Host to create a room or Join to enter one — matchmaking is automatic, no room code needed. Invite a friend and enjoy real-time multiplayer matches with rod movement, ball possession, and score synchronized between both devices.

Note: Online Multiplayer and room hosting are built on Construct 3’s built-in Multiplayer plugin. Gameplay information such as rod positions, ball possession, and score is synchronized between the two players using WebRTC DataChannels. No gameplay data is stored on a game server.

A lightweight signalling server is used only at the beginning of a match to help the Host and Joining player find and connect to each other. By default, this project uses Construct’s own free public signalling server (wss://multiplayer.construct.net), so Online Multiplayer works out of the box without requiring Node.js, Socket.io, Firebase, or additional server-side setup.

If you prefer to self-host your own signalling server for greater control, Construct/Scirra provides an open-source reference implementation that runs as a small Node.js + WebSocket (wss://) service. This is entirely optional, is not included with this template, and would require your own server/VPS and SSL certificate, which may involve additional hosting costs.

Offline Mode (vs Computer) works fully without any online services.
